What is category 4D on Royal Caribbean? ›

Category 4D - Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony.

As a rule of thumb, most of the Oasis of the Seas cabins to avoid are those on Deck 3 below the ice rink and the casino; staterooms on decks 6 and 7 closest to the theater, and those on Deck 14, as they're subject to noise from the pool deck directly above.

They are identical rooms, the only difference is that 4D is forward or aft and 2D is midship, which is usually considered to be between the forward and aft elevators. Even numbers are rooms for only 2 guests. Odd numbers are rooms for 3 or 4 guests.

Balcony: Differences. The key difference between oceanview rooms and balcony cabins is, of course, one has a window and the other has a private verandah, usually furnished with a couple of chairs and a drinks table. Oceanview cabins can have either a rectangular window or a round porthole, which typically do not open.

All of the D-category staterooms are oceanview balcony staterooms. D1s are known as "Superior Oceanview Staterooms with Large Balcony" because these are the "hump" staterooms, the ones located where the ship bulges out in two places on either side of the ship, creating larger, deeper balconies.

Royal Loft Suite: The most opulent accommodations on Oasis of the Seas, the Royal Loft Suite is the size of a modest home (1,599 square feet with an 875-square-foot balcony), and features such luxuries as a baby grand piano and a dining area with a dry bar for entertaining on the bottom level.

Check for decks close to the crew service entrances as well as the main cruise engine. Such decks will have a higher level of noise compared to a sandwiched deck area.

The most stable part of the ship is its lowest point of gravity, so on a lower deck, at the center. You'd feel a lot less motion here than, say, in a stateroom on the upper decks a long way forward or aft (towards the back of the ship).

These cabins include 14207 - 14217, 14607 - 14617, 14229 - 14235, and 14629 - 14635. Finally, if you are staying in a Boardwalk balcony, you shouldn't expect to get a clear view of the ocean, as the Ultimate Abyss causes the majority of these cabins to have an obstructed view of the ship's aft.

Know This: Location can matter! One of the best spots for a balconied cabin (or suite) is on a ship's aft deck, facing backward over the wake. It's an incredibly soothing sight ,and often these verandas (even with a standard-category cabin) are deeper and roomier than usual.

If your cruise is a closed-loop or a round-trip beginning and ending at the same port, your cruise is likely to be equally scenic on the port or starboard side. You may just see different things at different parts of your journey. The same is true if you are cruising across the open ocean.

This means you may book a stateroom of a guaranteed category type (Interior, Oceanview, Balcony or Suite) on your chosen ship and cruise.

The number corresponds to the type of stateroom (inside, oceanview, verandah) and typically the higher the number the more economical the stateroom is. The letter that follows it (A-E) corresponds to the location on the ship and typically the higher decks have either an A or a B, but that is not always the case.
