Hot chocolate has a way of bringing a smile to my face. I think it’s because it reminds me of being a kid and sipping on some during the holidays. Whatever it is, I am still excited when I think of it. Nowadays, I like to make “special” drinks with some alcohol. Santa’s Late Night Cocoa is one of my favorite ways to enjoy a mug of hot chocolate over the last few years. I knew it was time to share it with you.

Ingredients Needed
- Hot Cocoa Mix – Any variety or flavor will do. So, go with something you like already and you’ll be all set.

- Allspice – Another favorite ingredient of mine. I love how spicy it is and I’m sure you will too.
- Crown Royal – Regular Crown or Vanilla Crown are both tasty options. Try them both to see what you like the best.
- Cinnamon Sticks – While you aren’t required to add the cinnamon sticks they do add the elegance and style of the drink.
- Whipped Cream – I may or may not love to use whipped cream because I like to spray some in my mouth while I am making the drink.
- Amber Sprinkles – Any color of sprinkles will work, but I really love the look of amber colored ones. They are so pretty and great for the holidays.

It’s officially time to get excited! This is bound to be a drink you make time and time again. Let’s get going so you can whip up this awesome concoction.
- Follow the directions on the hot chocolate package. Make it with water or milk.
- Sprinkle in the cinnamon and allspice. Then add the Crown Royal. Stir to incorporate the spices.
- After everything is mixed, pour it into 2 mugs.
- Add a swirl of whipped cream on top of each mug.
- Top with sprinkles and add a cinnamon stick.

Can I Use Different Alcohol?
Yep! Any kind of whiskey will do. Just swap the Crown for whatever you like, and it will be fine. The flavor is going to vary, but overall it’s still going to be pretty good. Vodka, Rum, and Chocolate Liqueur are all good ideas too.

For parties and large groups, I recommend utilizing your slow cooker. It’s a great way to house the hot chocolate. For best results, prepare all of the hot chocolate in advance then pour it into the crockpot. Turn it onto the warming setting and stir periodically. I recommend making the hot chocolate with water instead of milk if you are making a large batch so the milk doesn’t curdle.
It’s fine to add the spices while it’s in the slow cooker, but wait to add the alcohol until you are serving it. Otherwise, either the alcohol will cook off or it could catch on fire. Neither one of those scenarios are ideal.
