Once could say that food played a supporting role in more than a few of the nominees of this year's Oscars. Pizza in The Whale, a cucumber salad in Tár, and even a rat (we opted for chocolate mice) in Babylon all made very dramatic appearances. Oysters might not be what you want on the table after watching Triangle of Sadness, but our recipe for Oysters Rockefellar will surely change your mind.

Cooking is also one of our favorite ways to feel like we've been transported into the movie, too. Come sit at The Fabelmans' table for some brisket bites, feel like a King (either Elvis or M'Baku) with our Elvis egg rolls and baked yuca fries, or feel yourself Turning Red with our .

Now that you've got some "Oscar bait"- themed Oscar bait, be sure to get super into awards season (the best season of all, TBH) with all our top Oscar party food menu ideas.

Triangle of Sadness: Oysters Rockefeller

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (4)

Oysters might seem like they're just for fancy folks on a luxury cruise but we beg to differ. Looking to impress without much effort? Oysters Rockefeller are low key in terms of prep but high key impressive. With very little effort, you can have a fancy little appetizer everyone will rave about. Topped with spinach and buttery bread crumbs, these oysters will be gone faster than you can say Rockefeller.

The Banshees of Inisherin: Finger Cookies

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (6)

Sorry, but we just had to go there. These witch finger cookies are exactly what they sounds like, a shortbread cookie shaped into a severed finger and adorned with an almond nail and a bit of blood-red jam. Feel free to make these a bit less bewitching by holding off on the green food coloring.

5

Marcel The Shell With Shoes On: Stovetop Popcorn

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (7)

Marcel the Shell and Nana Connie feast on popcorn while they watch movies, so why shouldn't you? Cozy up on a hoagie roll (er, your couch) with your own bowl of freshly popped popcorn. This easy stovetop technique results in popcorn that's light and crisp – all it needs is your signature popcorn seasoning. (We love nutritional yeast, paprika, and lots of salt!).

6

Puss In Boots: Milk & Cookies Shots

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (8)

Okay, so these cookies filled with Baileys are more for the grown-up Puss in Boots fans, but feel free to fill them with actual milk so everyone can join in. Using store bought cookie dough makes these super easy, but if you've got the time, making chocolate chip cookies from scratch is even better!

The Whale: Pizza

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (9)

Admittedly, there is a lot of food in The Whale, but one of the most pivotal scenes in the film involves pizza. While not nearly as dramatic, this recipe for Detroit-style pizza was a major turning point in our own pizza game. With a tender, airy crust (think focaccia), lots of crispy edges, tons of melty cheese, and savory pepperoni slices, there's a lot to love about this unconventional pizza.

8

Blonde: Blondies

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (10)

Going blonde is quite the undertaking, but making blondies? Totally easy. This collision of a fudgy blondie (that screams for chocolate) and fluffy spice cake will result in the sweet and savory dessert of your dreams. If you want to go full-on Marilyn-themed, check out our very glam Marilyn blondies next!

Turning Red: Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (11)

No offense, Ratatouille, but the dad in Turning Red can seriously cook. We found ourselves mooning over the beef stir-fry scene, and we wanted to bring that experience home with us with our own beef and broccoli stir-fry recipe. You're going to be so glad you skipped the take-out once you make our version.

All Quiet On The Western Front: Dirt Pudding

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (12)

One could say that dirt was also a character all its own in All Quiet On The Western Front. And seeing as we'll never say no to an opportunity for chocolate, dirt pudding is definitely on the menu. Dirt pudding (aka dirt cups) is a classic kids' recipe that everyone should know how to make. Using crushed Oreos to mimic dirt and garnishing with gummy worms might sound kind of silly, but the truth is this: This creamy and indulgent layered dessert tastes ridiculously good, is incredibly easy to whip together, and is equally as fun to make as it is to eat.Get the Dirt Pudding recipe.

Wakanda Forever: Baked Yuca Fries

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (13)

According to the Official Black Panther Cookbook, yuca fries are a snack worthy of a king. And we totally agree. They’re made from cassava root, a starchy vegetable with a waxy, brown outside that’s common to Latin America, Asia, and South Africa. These sweet and nutty cassava fries do take a bit of preparation, but once you’ve peeled, chopped, and boiled them, you can turn them into extremely crispy fries that’ll rival any French fry.

Elvis: Elvis Egg Rolls

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (14)

The King did more than change rock n' roll, he also changed the way we ate peanut butter sandwiches, too. We took Elvis' favorite combo (banana, peanut butter, and bacon) and thought it was a more than worthy filling for deep fried egg rolls (because why not?). Keep a watchful eye on these little guys. Depending on how hot your oil is, they might need as little as 30 seconds a side. You're looking for a golden crust — as soon as you've got it, flip!

Top Gun: Lemon-Berry Firecracker Cake

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (15)

Nothing says "AMERICA" quite like Top Gun or a patriotic red, white, and blue dessert like this eye-popping lemon-berry firecracker cake. For a blast of flavor, our spin on the classic firecracker cake upgrades itself from white cake to a tangy lemon batter with blueberry- and strawberry-flavored swirls. The danger zone never tasted so good.

14

Tár : Cucumber Salad

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (16)

Cucumber salads might seem like a kind of bummer (like Lydia's was in the movie), but we'd say that this recipe is pretty harmonious. This salad gets better with a bit of time, too. Make it the morning you plan to serve it so the tomato and cucumber can marinate in the dressing. Just hold off on adding the herbs until the very end so they stay bright and fresh.

Aftersun: Muhamarra

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (17)

Transport yourself into the Turkish seaside of Aftersun with your own mezze platter. One of our favorite centerpieces? Plenty of muhammura, a Middle eastern dip made of roasted red peppers, walnuts, and usually some fresh bread crumbs, which provide a pleasant texture. Pomegranate molasses adds sweetness and a little tang, giving the muhammara its trademark flavor. This vegan dip is great with pretty much anything; serve it with fresh veggies like carrots, celery, or peppers, or with your favorite pita bread or chips!

Glass Onion: Caramelized Onion Dip

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (18)

An Oscar party without dip is hardly a party at all, and onion dip tends to reign supreme at celebrations year-round. It’s creamy, savory, and perfectly scoop-able, so it’s no surprise it’s always the first to disappear. With this recipe, we take the classic onion dip one step further by incorporating deeply caramelized onions into the mix.

Avatar: The Way of Water: Frozen Blue Moscato Margaritas

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (19)

Wine lovers (and maybe even the Na'Vi) will absolutely love these margarita slushies because of the tasty addition of sweet moscato. The bright hue of this drink is achieved with blue curaçao, an orange liqueur that was created on the island of Curaçao in the Caribbean. We love garnishing these with blueberries in the summer (particularly to keep with the bright blue theme), but use whatever fruit you like.

18

Babylon: Chocolate Rats

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (20)

These icky-cute rats feature three kinds of chocolate: semisweet in the creamy, cakey center and white and bittersweet in the crisp chocolate shell. We'd say these are a much better option than the one featured in Babylon.

Living: Eton Mess Sundae

Here's What You Should Eat And Drink Based On Your 2023 Oscar Picks (21)

Bill Nighy's character in Living gets a new perspective on life along with another supporting character: A Knickerbocker Glory-style sundae. Consider this as our yankee version of the British classic: Broken pieces of meringue cookies (store-bought or homemade), sliced strawberries, and strawberry ice cream turn a low-brow sundae into something worthy of English high tea.
