How to get The Gifted Conviction Hunter Exotic in Destiny 2

You can get the Gifted Conviction from Master Rahool in the Tower as part of his Exotic Focusing service. Unfortunately, Exotic Focusing isn’t available right away, and you must reset your rank with the Cryptarch to unlock it.

The reset option is available once you reach level 16 with the vendor and you can increase your level by decoding Engrams.

I’ve read reports that Engrams you find in the wild can decrypt into the Gifted Conviction before you reset the Cryptarch. As a player who did plenty of Bounty Prep, I have yet to find a Final Shape Exotic this way, so the drop rate may be low.

The easiest way to get Gifted Conviction in Destiny 2 is by completing The Final Shape campaign on Legendary. While you might not get the best stats on your Gifted Conviction, you’ll unlock it and be able to more easily focus Exotic Engrams to get the stat roll you’re looking for.

What is the Gifted Conviction in Destiny 2?

The Gifted Conviction is an Exotic chest piece exclusive to the Hunter and has the following Perk:

The Gift of Certainty – Activating Ascension or Tempest Strike throws bouncing explosives at nearby targets that jolt and damage them. Jolting nearby targets grants damage resistance.

As The Gifted Conviction has such a specific effect, our build matters, and we need to invest heavily into the Jolt debuff to make it work.

Hunter Gifted Conviction Exotic build

The Gifted Conviction gives us valuable damage reduction when we Jolt enemies. With this in mind, we want to lean into this as much as possible and will use the Arc Subclass. You can, of course, use Prismatic and the new Arc Aspect to great effect, too.

Aspects and Fragments

Aspects

  • Tempest Strike – While sliding, activate your charged melee ability to unleash an attack that travels along the ground. Any enemies hit by the strike become jolted.
  • Flow State – Defeating jolted targets makes you Amplified.

Fragments

  • Spark of Resistance – Grants 25% damage reduction when surrounded by enemies.
  • Spark of Discharge – Arc weapon final blows have a chance to create an Ionic Trace.
  • Spark of Feedback – Being struck by a melee attack grants a 75% damage bonus to your next melee attack for a short period.
  • Spark of Shock – Your Arc Grenades jolt targets

This Aspect and Fragment combination gives us multiple ways to inflict jolt, and Ascension means we can take advantage of the explosives from Gifted Conviction. Spark of Resistance is huge in this build, as the 25% damage reduction is no joke. Spark of Feedback is also handy, as it works with our melee ability, which I’ll cover in the next section.

Abilities and Weapons

Abilities

  • Super – Gathering Storm
  • Class Ability – Gamblers Dodge
  • Movement Ability – Triple Jump
  • Melee – Combination Blow
  • Grenade – Pulse Grenade

Weapons

  • Midnight Coup Kinetic Hand Cannon
  • Brigand’s Law Arc Sidarm
  • Indebted Kindness Arc Sidearm
  • Thunderlord Arc Machine Gun

Most of the abilities are a personal choice, although Combination Blow pairs nicely with Spark of Feedback for some almighty melee damage. Gambler’s Dodge also works with our more melee-centric abilities.

You can play fast and loose with your weapons, but as we’re running an Arc build, I recommend a gun with Voltshot. I’ve sworn by the Brigand’s Law for a while as it’s a ridiculously powerful sidearm. If you’re lucky enough to have an Indebted Kindness from the Warlord’s Ruin Dungeon, it’s worth using, but Voltshot is essential to clear areas quickly because of Jolt.

This build offers plenty of sustain, although the Assassins Cowl Exotic Helmet may be better for a melee-focused build. Still, you have survivability and more ways to trigger Jolt and Amplify than you’ll ever need.

If you usually play Solar Hunter and are having Golden Gun withdrawal, I’ve got good news for you. There’s an Exotic Sniper Rifle that fires those powerful Golden shots, and it’s easy to obtain when you know how.
