A day in the life of a YES Journeyman:“Working for YES is a fun and safe place to be employed. You must work as a team and have fun at work. As a Journeyman, you get to train a lot of guys and help them grow in their electrical career. At the start of the day, the Journeyman get the guys together and have a tailgate meeting with goals for the day, things to watch out for so everyone goes home the same way they came to work, and also set expectations and goals for the day.Middle of the day typically assess where we are sitting towards our goals/ looking forward on materials and what we'd need or are getting low on to keep everyone learning to always move forward and have some help getting things. At the end of the day, we assess what did and didn't go our way how we could've done better or what we did good and how we would like to move forward for the next day. Talk about anything that has changed safety wise or things we need to be aware of as well as clean up and make sure everyone’s work is complete. We close out the day by completing any orders or touching base with customers and then go home to be with our families.”Have you considered becoming an electrician? While qualified electrical line workers and electricians are often willing to go above and beyond the call, some jobs require specific knowledge and experience. That’s why it’s important to stop and reassess a situation if there is ever a doubt about a job’s task or a procedure’s requirement. Some questions to ask yourself: ◾ Have I been properly trained to safely complete this job task? ◾Do I have the proper tools for this job? ◾Has a proper risk assessment been performed? ◾Am I confident about completing this job without risk or putting others at risk? Know when to say when – it can save your life and the lives of those working with you.📸 Aldridge Electric #WeAreNECA #OSHAStopFalls #ConstructionSafetyWeek #ESFI #ElectricalSafetyMonth

This goes out to those just starting in the trades but does not just pertain to them. I talk to my students about knowing when to ask for help, that the danger is not just to us workers but can also be to the public, not lieing about what you know because in the trades you never know what you will be working next solar, PLC, motors, residential, commercial, industrial, rigid, emt and you might get sent to a jobsite because you had it on your resume at told someone you could do this or that, I’ve done conductor fill, resized pipe in the field to keep my crew working, I had to ask for help because my skills are weak when it comes to motors, and ran solar jobs because I can read plans and have been trained in solar down to calculating the size of labor need to hold array down from the wind. Where to get that info on the wind speed. Just be yourself, be safe and remember safety means everyone’s safety.

We asked our Foreman, AJ, why he chose and enjoys the electrical trade, check out what he said! "I love being an electrician because it gives me a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment. Every day, I am entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the safety and functionality of electrical systems, which plays a crucial role in people's lives. What I cherish most is knowing that I possess a skill set that will remain valuable for the rest of my life. In a world increasingly reliant on technology and electricity, my expertise as an electrician is not only in demand but also essential. The ability to troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical systems grants me a sense of empowerment and confidence, knowing that I can tackle any challenge that comes my way. Being an electrician is not just a job; it's a passion, a calling, and a lifelong journey of learning and growth."The trades present an excellent career opportunity, and AJ's enthusiasm for his role as an electrician is both motivating and uplifting. His heartfelt reasons for loving his profession serve as a testament to the rewarding nature of working in this field.#findyourpassion #findyourcalling #trades #electrical #electricalcontracting #electrician
